We are smack-dab in the middle of winter, here in the Mid-Atlantic region, but Mother Nature hasn’t been acting like it. Luckily, I’m friends with a lot of people who live in the American Rocky Mountains and in Canada, where there is plenty of snow, so I’m living vicariously through them right now. It’s hard to believe we are two weeks into the new year. I never know how to slow life down, but one of my goals this year is to try to be more present in the moment. I suppose that’s the best shot I can give.

It’s been a few months since I’ve shared what I’ve been up to. I skipped last season because I was traveling, and now it seems like a good time to jump in with a few updates. So, here’s what life has looked like lately.

Loving - frosty mornings. I relish waking up and seeing the grass all glossy and glistening.

Eating - beans on toast, my own little twist on a British classic.

Working - on a magazine article submission. Going to be a busy season!

Picturing - more snow on the ground. Wish there was some in the forecast soon.

Collecting - books on my read shelf. Finishing my eighth book of 2023 already.

Wanting - a glass bottle of Coke after seeing one on TV last night.

Anticipating - stress on the horizon. Hope I’m wrong, though.

Planning - so weekend adventures this year.

Following - Golden Globe award winner news in my feed. Love that all my favorite shows have been recognized.

Making - bento boxes for my love’s lunches. It’s a new way I’m able to be creative. :)

Smelling - the new lavender air freshener plug-in. A different kind of lavender though. Almost smells like men’s cologne.

Getting - sleepy… again.

Wearing - loungewear. Or can we just go back to calling it pajamas?

Listening - to all the podcasts I need to catch up on.

Consuming - so much soup this winter, I could probably float away.

Watching - The OC on HBO. I’ve watched the whole series several times, but now, I’ve got the man hooked. *smirk*

Wondering - when my new cookware will arrive. I’m ecstatic about it and can’t wait to start using it.

Posting - a call for speakers for the mental health conference I’m on the planning committee for. It’s exciting to see this event come together!

Feeling - disappointed in my body, but also trying to give myself some grace. Why is self-love so hard to master?

Scheduling - a lot of writing projects.

Organizing - my life on paper. Oy.

Reading - Husband Material by Alexis Hall. I loved her first book and this is the perfect sequel.

Taking - a nap as soon as this post goes live. The fatigue is moving in quickly and my eyes are heavy.

Craving - comfort food.

Appreciating - my fiance and how thoughtful and caring he is. I’m a lucky gal.

Sending - healing hopes to someone I love.

Enjoying - water with fresh lemon slices in the morning.

Going - to need some time near a body of water soon.

Resolving - to stop being so type A when working on group projects. It’s not good for my mental health.

Playing - a parking lot game on my phone. I’m nearing 20,000 rounds and it’s glaringly apparent how much time I waste on it.

Finding - more tasks that I need to add to my master project list.

Spending - energy on things I cannot change. Deep breath.

Wishing - I could add a few more hours to the day. So much to do.

Thinking - about a cup of peppermint tea before my nap.

Happy new year everyone. <3
