If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet up at my place and settle down on the sofa next to the fire since the outside air still has a bit of a chill to it. I'd have some hot cocoa in my favorite mug that I like to call "Chip," because there is a little crack on the rim and it reminds me of Chip from Beauty and the Beast. I might even toss a blanket over my lap and plop a few marshmallows into my mug, all in the spirit of being extra cozy.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd ask you if this new season is coming in like a lion or a lamb where you're from. It's been a lion here in the Mideast, as we had a snowstorm just last week, but we are showing more signs of spring every day. I'd tell you that I plan to pull my camera out of storage and go on a nature walk later this week. Usually, at this time of the year, all the trees are starting to bud and prepare to open up and I always love to snap some pictures of those seasonal changes.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd confide in you that I'm feeling pretty nervous about an appointment I have with my doctor tomorrow. I will have to go to the hospital to get a load of testing done because I haven't been feeling my best and that usually means that one of my medications isn't performing the way it should be. Even though I'll be glad to get an answer for why I have been feeling so poorly, it's frustrating because I have to go back on the roller coaster of playing with my doses until I find that sweet spot again.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that I'm excited to be headed into spring. I've been in the mood for the farm markets to open up so I can buy farm-fresh produce and other local products. I have lists of new recipes that I want to try, and we always have lots of family meals planned now that the days will be getting longer and warmer. It is always a very festive season and I have so many exciting things planned for the next few months that I will definitely share more about as they get closer. Bring on the warmer weather!

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that at the beginning of the year, I made a goal to conquer two fears that I've struggled with over the course of my adult life - loneliness and rejection. I originally thought I'd look back at things I'd dealt with in the past, but I'm in the midst of experiencing both right now. So, I'm seeing this as an opportunity to go back to what I learned when I was seeing a counselor many years ago. This looks like a lot of writing and processing the things, past and present, that are weighing on my heart. While there is no way to navigate life without having to deal with this kind of pain, I am using it as a learning experience and will hopefully grow from it.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you one last thing before I had to say goodbye. On Sunday, we had the most beautiful night. It was warm and the sky was crystal clear, so I turned on some music and went outside to watch the stars. I spent an hour staring up at the sky, and wow, does that put things into perspective. There is something about looking into the endless expanse of space that will make all of your problems feel small in comparison.

If you and I had coffee...

We'd linger over the last few sips of our drinks, willing them to extend our visit just a bit longer. But when it was time to go, I'd give you a hug and make a promise that we'd see each other again soon. Until then, my friend...
